My Memorable Teaching Experience
When
I was a seventh semester college student, I was given a chance to be a teacher
trainee. I experienced it for about three months and I chose one of the junior
high schools in Magelang.
At
first, I was invited to observe the class I would teach by one of the English
teachers there. After arriving in the classroom, I was asked to introduce
myself to the students. Then, I sat in one of the chairs there. I observed how
the teacher taught and how the students were. I did this observation for two
weeks.
After
undertaking the observation, I started to teach. I taught seventh grade
students. At the beginning, I felt I had
to struggle more and more. Being a teacher was a challenging job. I not only had
to prepare the materials but also be able to create such kind of atmosphere in
which the students would be interested in teaching learning process. I learnt
that actually the important things I should do before teaching the lessons were
gaining the students’ attention and make them motivated.
I
taught the students for about sixteen meetings. In order to make the students
interested in the teaching learning process, I attempted to apply various
teaching methods like cooperative learning. They seemed very excited. One more
thing, they were happy when I gave feedback to their works. In the last
meeting, there were some students who gave me gifts. I was very happy indeed.
That
was my memorable teaching experience. I learnt many things. For me, when I
taught, I learnt something.
